What to Expect in a Private Meditation Session?

So you want to know more about Meditation and Private sessions, well, you have come to the right place because that is exactly what I do and offer. In this blog post, I will share the ins and out of what is involved in a private meditation session.

Q: What is a private meditation session?

These sessions are a meditation journey where you can feel safe and allow your mind and body to relax and let go.

A private meditation session is where you are guided and held by an experienced / professional meditation teacher. What is specifically offered in these sessions will vary from teacher to teacher, so in this blog post I will speak for myself and how the sessions that I offer look. The core of a private meditation session is to be guided through a meditation journey, usually around 30 minutes in length. These sessions are not teaching you how to meditate, but rather a meditation journey where you can feel safe, and allow your mind and body to totally let go. Q: How long are Private meditation sessions?

The Sessions are generally fifty minutes to an hour in length.

When I offer private meditation sessions for clients, the sessions are generally 50 minutes to an hour in length. These sessions are built around a  30 minute guided meditation journey, tailored to the client and their needs. (All of my sessions are 100% flexible and can be tailored to your needs - Sessions can be made longer and we can even add in movement/yoga before the meditation, contact me here to chat more about your options ).

 

Q: What actually happens during a private meditation session?

When we initially meet for the first time, we have a casual conversation about your experience with meditation, what you are hoping to get out of the session and also how you feel you are moving through your own inner growth journey at the time (this is a chance to chat about deeper things that may be going on physically, mentally and emotionally for you). Ultimately, the your goals and needs are specially addressed during our time together. 

Next, I explain the process of the Effortless Meditation Technique and how you can apply this profound technique to your guided meditation journey (more information here about the Effortless Meditation Technique). The Effortless Meditation Technique is simple, easy to use and understand but HIGHLY profound. The effects within the body can be felt rather quickly and this is the technique I use in my own personal meditation practice and how I teach both self-directed and guided meditation to others. I explain this technique in an easy way, using a visual analogy - many of my clients have said that they really connect with the way I explain Effortless Meditation and it has deeply changed their meditation experience; adding in depth and enrichment.  I hold a safe space for any questions, thoughts or feelings of any kind to be shared and heard. 

The entire private meditation session is curated around your needs.

After this, we begin to set up the space for meditation. In a private meditation session, comfort is essential! I ALWAYS offer and highly encourage you to find a nice and comfortable seated position. This is usually sitting on a couch with cushions and perhaps a blanket, on a comfortable chair, or even sitting on a bed (again with cushions and any support). There is actually no benefit to meditating on the floor crossed legged without back support. COMFORT AND BACK SUPPORT IS KEY!

Whenever you are ready, I begin to guide you through a 30 minute meditation journey (the journey can also be tailored in length - it can be made shorter or longer - depending on your needs). The entire private meditation session is curated around the your needs - this is always the foundation. Ultimately, you know yourself better than I do. It is to your preference whether the meditation journey includes sound or not.

After the meditation journey, the rest of the session is used for integration. We take time to ease our bodies out of the deep meditative state. There will be time to unpack your experience, ask questions and dive deeper into anything that may have come up for you during the practice. 

 

Q: Are private meditations sessions better for beginners or advanced meditators?

Both. Ultimately, these private meditation sessions are for anyone feeling drawn to them. They are for anyone looking to begin a meditation practice or dive deeper into their own.

These sessions can be great for beginners to get a sense of how meditation can benefit their lives and start to experience the profound effects of the practice without jumping straight into a course.

For experienced meditators, these sessions can be great to inspire and motivate their own practice. I enjoy meditating on my own everyday however, I personally find that when I am guided into a meditation journey from a teacher, it can often deepen my experience. It is almost like giving my own practice a little turbo boost. It’s a treat to have someone else hold space for meditation, rather than holding space for yourself.
